The History of the Shadow Platoon

2000 – ESPN starts aggressively marketing their fantasy games and the Uber Challenge is born.

2000 – Uber Marketing Scheme uber group is formed. The name is a satire on the ploy of ESPN to sell their games. Leagues motto A game within the games–>illicit participation.

2000 – Ajuga Lawn Service uber group is formed. This group is formed mainly with member who were “profile whores” but also good game players as well. In the profile area if you knew html, you could code a very nice web page telling all about yourself. They would also keep track of how many visitors each had to their profile. It became the goal of some to get as many visitors as you could to view your profile, those who did were dubbed as “profile whores”. ALS also created the Profile Scavenger Hunts 1 & 2.

2001 – ALS ranked 29th

2001 – In October, ESPN redesigned the profiles and removed the ability for members to make their own profile and eliminated visitor counts.

2002 – ALS ranked 24th

2003 – ALS ranked 21st

2003 – Out Of The Shadows group is formed as an off shoot of UMS. OOTS uber rank is in the top 10

2003 – ALS disbands due to internal issues. Those that wished to remain a “team” united to form the Uber Platoon.

2004 – OOTS ranked 6th, UP ranked 19th
*
2004 – OOTS enter Uber Wars for the 2004-2005 season and finishes 10th place.

2005 – OOTS ranked 8th and UP ranked 14th merge to form the 1st 50-50 Elite uber league merger and become the Shadow Platoon. The Shadow Platoon finished ranked 5th.

2005 – Shadow Platoon enters Uber Wars for the 2005-2006 season and finishes 9th.

2006 – Shadow Platoon enters Uber Wars for the 2006-2007 season and finishes 10th.

2006 – Shadow Platoon .com website purchased .org site closed

2006 – SP ranked 5th

2006 – Shadow Platoon changes commissioner and renews commitment for the group and the recruiting of new members.

2006 – Shadow Platoon intoduces “Platoon Games” in order to make participation more fun and also enhance game scores.

2007 – Shadow Platoon website revamped for more user friendly access for members and information for new recruiting.
*
2007 – SP ranked 9th
*
2007 – Shadow Platoon enters Uber Wars for the 2007-2008 season.
*
2007- ESPN reinstates the profile services and system-wide recruiting effort begins and Shadow Platoon 2 is created.
